About

Founded in January 2026 by Principals Chad Sullivan, PE and Abdullah Ayazi, ASA Engineers was built with a straightforward goal: "to do honest, thoughtful engineering alongside people we enjoy working with."

Bringing more than 60 years of combined MEP/FP engineering experience and over $1B in completed regional construction across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, we partner directly with architects, school districts, municipalities, and building owners to design high-performance, sustainable building systems that are intuitive to build, operate, and maintain.

Senior Engineers Doing the Work

We don't hand your project off after the kickoff meeting. Your project is led and engineered from day one by the principals and senior engineers sitting at the table with you.

Client Responsiveness & Budget Alignment

We pick up the phone, coordinate proactively with architectural and contractor teams, and align our mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs with real-world construction budgets and schedules.

Simple, Maintainable Net-Zero Systems

High-performance buildings shouldn't require a PhD to operate. By designing out unnecessary complexity—like eliminating terminal VAV boxes through ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP and streamlining geothermal central plants—we deliver ultra-low EUI facilities that building staff can easily maintain for decades.

Giving Back to the DMV Community

At ASA Engineers, our philosophy isn't defined solely by technical excellence and client responsiveness—it is equally rooted in kindness, generosity, and gratitude. We know we didn't get here on our own. The Washington, DC and greater DMV community, along with the District’s strong support for local Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs), has been incredibly welcoming and generous to us. Paying that support forward is a core part of who we are, whether we are supporting local charities and food banks, mentoring students, or sharing our trade in the classroom.

Adult Charter School HVAC Design Classes

Teaching hands-on mechanical, electrical, and building trades fundamentals to adult learners in Washington, DC to create direct career pathways into the region's clean-energy workforce.

ACE Mentor Program of the Greater Washington Region

Mentoring local high school students in architecture, construction, and MEP engineering and supporting annual student scholarship initiatives across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

CANstruction DC & Capital Area Food Bank

Partnering with regional industry peers at the National Building Museum to design and build sculptural structures made entirely of canned goods to combat hunger across the DMV.
